Hello everyone! I wanted to talk to you about this blog. I need to make some choices regarding this blog and I wanted your opinion. As most, if not, all of you know I am a contributor to Population GO! If you went through my posts on this blog, you would know that all of my posts on Pop Go have been this blog’s old posts just reformatted. I plan to start/continue reposting old reviews to Pop Go twice a week until the only thing separating this blog and Pop Go is one post. That means once Pop Go almost catches up to this blog I will write a review and post it here, then when it gets a week old I will post it on Pop Go and write a new review and post it here then repeat. This way people who follow my blog will get a benefit from following my blog and won’t just follow Pop Go. But that is not what I need help deciding on. What I need help deciding on is what to do besides reviews, or if not to do anything besides reviews. Since, as I implied earlier, I will only be making one post a week* I was wondering if you guys (and girls) wanted something more. It can be anything manga related and that WON’T TAKE A LONG TIME TO DO. Writing two reviews a week is, unfortunately, not an option. But I can post funny/interesting manga panels/pages like I did in the past. I could make post a list of all the manga I read each day, and provide links. Or I could be quite and just stick with a weekly manga review. Or I could do something I didn’t mention. What do you think?
*Replies do not count as a real post, nor does posts like this one.
P.S. This is the first of a 3 question posts (number is not final). Please, for all our sakes reply to each one, a quick response will suffice.
P.S.S. I accept ask box messages if you want to say a lot, or if you want to say anything really.
hmmm?
tristtrist replied to your post: Toriko
Im so glad they release it in English, it is hilarious! Just finished volume 2
Yeah, I noticed it was on your list of favorite manga. Although I prefer reading manga online I occasionally buy translated manga too, although not as much as you. In fact, I just got the first two volumes of bobobo-bo bo-bobo… Perhaps I will review that next…
tristtrist asked: Wow just how much manga have you read, looking at the list of recommended ones on the side, Ive not read alot! Keep on recommending and providing commentary and what not on them, its helpful.
3 years ago I attempted making a spreadsheet that contained a record of all the manga I have read and my thoughts on each one. I lost track at about 200. I assume I recorded about half of the manga I read up to that point, that means I have read roughly 400 manga after 4 years. Continuing on that I will be optimistic and assume I did indeed read 100 new series a year. I said on my “about me” part of my blog that I have been reading manga for seven years. We now have an estimate of 700 series. Now let us account for last summer where I read only a few new series… and than let us be a little pessimistic and we have 650 series. Now let us be realistic and say I have read anywhere from 600 to 650 different mangas. And before you say “wow that is a lot” you have to realize that a some mangas only have a few chapters online (conversely some mangas have +600 chapters) and that this number also includes mangas that I have stopped reading. But also note that at times I have thought that I have read up to 800 different manga series. This is just my current thinking.
Sorry, I ranted a lot a bit there. And my “to-do” list on the side are only the manga I recalled off the top of my head I will have more once I go through my bookmarked manga. I will try to continue recommending but as you can tell from my lack of posting my conviction wavers.
It’s like this, first off I need to apologize, with school starting on tuesday I have been busy with going my summer assignment and looking into colleges to apply to. Because of that I have not posted recently. Some of you may have noticed my latest post was entirely irrelevant to manga. That was because my tumblr app was logged into this account rather than my personal one. But since it got liked (thanks mangajunkie) I will leave it up, it can’t hurt right? One more thing, as you may remember I am a part of Population Go, formerly known as otakuberries, our blog will be starting up again tomorrow. For more information please refer to my previous post regarding it.
jammrock asked: have you seen a manga site out there that has a similar viewing format to Onemanga? And what do you think about Veritas, Psyren, and Teppu.
I can’t say I paid much attention to the viewing formats of manga sites. But off the top of my head I would say mangafox.com. I had an easy switch from one to the other. I really like Veritas and Psyren, if you are thinking about reading them then you should do so. They are not must reads but are very good. But my opinion of Teppu is not very high. I read 9 chapters of it and I could see why someone would like it but I don’t.
EDIT: Anime A has a simular format to OneManga, it has a black background and right/left arrow page scroll. Thanks to Mangajunkie for pointing it out.
So I have a few things I need to say. First, due to some unforeseen trouble My vacation ended early and I am now back home. Your regularly scheduled manga recommendations will now continue. Two, due to this not being a personal blog I have tried to keep any posts related to manga. This has prevented me from reblogging, posting, and talking freely. If you noticed, I like posts extensively, not being able to reblog is the reason. That and seeing how I have hundreds of pages in my dashboard to go through daily, I have decided to unfollow people on this blog and start following most, if not all, of them in my personal blog Ryureibu. I hope that you will follow me back. Of course, that means I will be reviving my personal blog. Third, I was asked to join Population GO! (formally known as Otakuberries). I am now one of their manga experts. I will be providing the same content on this blog to that blog. The only difference that is worth mentioning is they require a rating system to be used. So I will be giving manga a rating out of five. I am still debating if I should do the same here. Population GO! has been on a hiatus for a couple of months and will start up on September 5th. Lastly, I created an email for this tumblr. It is mangarecommendations@gmail.com feel free to ask me questions there too, and if they are good I may post them here after asking for permission with you of course. I believe that is all I have to say, if it isn’t expect another text post. Have a nice day everyone.
