Manhwa Review: Id

Some times we stumble across stories of fantastic lands, mystical creatures, and epic battles. Other times we come across stories like Id. Id has everything I mentioned, fantastic lands, mystical creatures, epic battles but it has a few things that make it different from the rest of the crowd.  This manga has amazing art, a great story, and an even better entertainment value.

I am a hardcore fantasy fan, and as one I can happy say that this manga has everything that I would ever want.  This has everything from elves to dwarves and orges to dragons. Sure, to someone who isn’t a fantasy fan this may seem repetitive and nothing new.  But that is just it, this is repetitive.  However, that is because this manga has it all.  Because it has everything from swordsmen to wizards and gods to demons that this manga seems similar to other stories. But I assure you, this manga does everything well. Sure sometimes the artwork during battles are a little confusing but that is only because the art work is detailed to the point that it steals your attention. I will also admit that the plot may seem a little generic, but that is only because you have yet to delve deep enough into the story.

Although the artwork itself is wonderful, I wouldn’t put it on the same level as a work such as Berserk.  As I have mentioned before the artwork is very detailed but that is also its flaw.  The artwork is, at times, too detailed.  The sheer amount of details in the drawing prevents the causal eye from absorbing everything.  Unless you take the time to enjoy the art it may seem muddled or messy. Yet this manga’s art redeems itself with its tones. Pure characters are reflected in the art, the main character, Id, is pure as a dove.  This is reflected in the drawing as Id’s character is drawn with plenty of white and little shadow. On the other hand, characters such as demons or even “good” characters who aren’t pure are drawn with plenty of dark shadows and many lines.

Now, I don’t know about you but I personally love dragons.  I can’t get enough of dragons.  What I like about this manga is that it has plenty of dragons, it is like I am in dragon heaven.  But what if you like elves more than dragons? Well, that is great too and this manga can meet your needs.  This manga simply has copious amounts of everything fantasy. Elves, swords, magic, dwarves, you name it Id has it. Id is a manga to meet all your fantasy needs!
